Seahawks avoid upset, rally for overtime win vs. Bucs

SEATTLE – The Seattle Seahawks rallied from their biggest deficit in franchise history Sunday to avoid a serious upset from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 27-24 overtime win.
Kicker Steven Hauschka's 27-yard field goal in overtime gave Seattle the win and its only lead of the afternoon after winless Tampa Bay jumped to a 21-0 lead late in the second quarter.

But the Buccaneers managed only three more points in the second half and overtime while Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson led the Seahawks on a historic comeback. Never before had the Seahawks recovered from a deficit of more than 20 points.
Seattle improves to 8-1, the best start in team history.
STRUGGLING: Cause for concern in Seattle?
Wilson rushed for a touchdown and threw two scores, including the game-tying touchdown to Doug Baldwin with 1:51 remaining in regulation. Seattle then rode running back Marshawn Lynch into field goal range in overtime after its defense forced Tampa Bay to punt on its possession.
The Buccaneers' hot start stunned Seattle's vaunted defense and the sold-out crowd at CenturyLink Field that hasn't seen the Seahawks lose at home since 2011. The stadium was especially quiet after Tampa Bay running back Mike James, who gashed the Seattle defense for 156 rushing yards, threw perhaps the season's silliest touchdown pass in the second quarter.
James took a handoff from rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, took a step or two forward before tossing a Tim Tebow-esque jump pass over the Seattle defensive line. Tight end Tom Crabtree climbed off his rear end to haul in the touchdown. It was part of the Bucs' near-perfect first half as everything that possibly could go wrong seemingly did for Seattle.
Glennon threw two first-half touchdown passes, 12 yards to Tim Wright and 20 yards to Tiquan Underwood against Seattle's No. 2-ranked pass defense. Seattle returner Jermaine Kearse then fumbled the kickoff into the arms of Tampa Bay kicker Michael Koenen to set up James' crazy touchdown pass and give Tampa a 21-0 lead.
